How come the electrodes don't require conductive gel?

The requirement for conductive gel is eliminated in X-trodes dry electrodes due to their low rigidity and excellent coupling to the skin. This connection provides contact with high surface area between the electrodes and skin, even during physical activity. This configuration produces a sufficiently low impedance values, ensuring a high signal-to-noise ratio and high signal fidelity.

Furthermore, Sweat trapped between the electrodes and the skin acts as an endogenous electrolyte, enhancing signal quality
