Please note EPOC cannot translate thoughts into words. You can use EPOC to type - very slowly compared to ordinary typing - and you can use the Cognitiv suite you drive a simple YES/NO response and to play games. There are many applications which are being developed to support people with paralysis to control lights, heating and to run applications on their computer. Unfortunately though direct to speech is not possible using EPOC at present. I have heard of some research using a single electrode over the larynx (voice box on the neck) which picks up residual signals from the nerves, which can convert speech impulses into sounds. Maybe this would work for your boyfriend.

Of course the EPOC software does not work with competing products! We require input from more than one sensor to make our detections work!! Sheesh!!

do i have to use an emotiv epoc or can i use the neurosky mindset too
