New Updates in EMOTIV App v.2.6 (Virtual Brainwear, Lab Stream Layer)

The latest version (v.2.6) of EMOTIV App is now available! This update comes with a new, exciting Virtual Brainwear feature, Lab Stream Layer (LSL) support, improved download and storage management via CloudSync, performance boost on matrix operations with Armadillo library, plus various enhancements and bug fixes.

Virtual Brainwear

EMOTIV’s ‘Virtual Brainwear’ is a device emulator embedded in the EMOTIV App. This feature is designed to assist you in developing applications with EMOTIV Brainwear®.

Virtual Brainwear can help you simulate a variety of different device states and data streams with just a few clicks, eliminating the need to set up different states using the physical device and saving you time. Once set up, the virtual device can be powered on/off, connected/disconnected, and configured exactly like the physical brainwear.

This highly flexible feature allows users to define battery levels, different contact quality (CQ) levels, and specify custom CQ even at the individual sensor level. Two simulation modes are available to allow for manual interaction or to stream pre-recorded data files. All of EMOTIV’s proprietary detections including Performance Metrics, Facial Expressions, and Metal commands can be streamed and configured similar to the actual brainwear.

Lab Stream Layer (LSL) support

The latest version 2.6 of EMOTIV App also comes with the Lab Stream Layer (LSL) support in EmotivPRO. This provides accurate time synchronization during time-sensitive research experiments and handles the network time delay between different systems. Applications will be able to inject markers into the data stream in near real-time as well. You can check out the LSL examples, which are now available on Github.
