Why can't I charge EMOTIV Headsets while in use?
Our devices do not operate while being charged, due to the potential safety hazard from a faulty power supply. We do provide an accessory device (EMOTIV Extender) which allows operation while charging using a 2.5kV data and power isolation barrier. Extender has several additional features including a direct USB pass-through system bypassing the wireless connection with a direct USB connection, a supplementary battery for extended operation, an SD recording mode to allow completely independent operation, and an electrically isolated opto-coupled trigger input which enters dedicated event markers directly into the EEG stream (very helpful for ERP studies with an external stimulus generator).
