How come the electrodes don’t require conductive gel?

Proper signal requires low electrode–skin impedance from the proper electrical coupling. It can be achieved by the enlargement of the contact surface area. Standard rigid electrodes do not conform to the skin and reach a large contact surface area by additional electrolytic substances. X-trodes soft electrodes have exceptional mechanical coupling to the skin, which retain low impedance while the skin moves and stretches. The sweat trapped between the electrodes and the skin serves as an endogenous electrolyte and improves the signal quality even more.
