EMOTIV is seeking a part-time Research Assistant/Intern to join the team based at Macquarie University, Sydney. The successful candidate will support the collection and analysis of data, and the development of experimental protocols.


  • Set-up participants and oversee their completion of experiments
  • Maintaining participant documentation
  • Manage participant recruitment and follow-up, in accordance with the study protocol
  • Data analysis, entry, and coding of both quantitative and qualitative data
  • Contributing to research design, preparation of research protocols
  • Undertaking literature searches and reviews
  • Assist in preparing reports, academic publications and the dissemination of research findings
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Essential Criteria

  • Undertaking or completed tertiary studies in neuroscience, psychology or a related discipline
  • Strong organisational skills with proven ability to meet deadlines, demonstrate effective time management and adapt to changing priorities
  • Reliability and ability to commit to 2 or more days per week for at least one year
  • An ability to work both in a team and independently, with a high level of flexibility and initiative with minimal supervision

Desirable Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience undertaking health research, including conducting literature reviews, and designing and implementing quantitative and/or qualitative research projects
  • Previous experience in collecting, analysing and interpreting research data including use of statistical software (e.g. Python, R, Excel or SPSS)
  • Experience with EEG
  • Hunger to learn and an interest in further career training and development
