Simulink, developed by MathWorks, is a popular commercial tool for modeling, simulating and analyzing multidomain dynamic systems. The Epoc - Simulink EEG Importer provides the real-time EEG data acquired by the Emotiv Epoc headset to a Simulink model.

A Simulink block receives the EEG data in a vector format and it can be used for further processing in the Simulink environment. The Simulink block is created out of a Matlab mex S-Function and has a double[22] data vector as output. Each call to the Simulink block returns with a data sample including the following dat a: COUNTER, AF3, F7, F3, FC5, T7, P7, O1, O2, P8, T8, FC6, F4, F8, AF4, GYROX, GYROY, TIMESTAMP, FUNC_ID, FUNC_VALUE, MARKER, SYNC_SIGNAL.

Requirements:
  • Microsoft Windows 7 (x86/x64) or Microsoft Windows XP (x86/x64 Service Pack 3)
  • Matlab R2012b (x86/x64), R2012a (x86/x64), R2011b (x86/x64), R2011a (x86/x64), R2010b (x86/x64), R2010a (x86/x64), R2009b (x86/x64), 2008a (x86/x64) or R2007b (x86/x64)
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.x
  • Emotiv Researcher Edition, Education Edition or Enterprise Plus Edition for raw EEG data access

Hi,

I received a support request concerning markers and the Simulink EEG Importer.

The importer sends the markers received by the emotiv API to Simulink. Problem is that the markers set via COM port like in the TestBench are not received by the API.

There are two possible solutions:
- Set the marker via the Emotiv API
- Listen to the COM port directly in Simulink

Best,
Markus

Wow, not sure how you managed to buy the Simulink importer without holding an EEG license. Please contact support!

Hi i have bought the EPOC neuroheadset. Along with it i got 5 applications, 1) EmobotSetup, 2)emoStore, 3) Emotiv EPOC Control panel, 4) EPOC Demo Spirit Mountain, 5) Epoc Simulink Importer. All the applications are running except for the Epoc Simulink Importer. I am after trying evrything to get it running but no progress. I was wondering if the importer can be ran with the EPOC neuroheadset or not?? Do i need the EEG Neuroheadset??

Please respond asap as i am using this software for my final year project!!

Thanks.

Hi Sanjiv,

as Tlaff pointed out this has to do with a mixture of systems. From the errormessage you get i assume that your Windows OS is 64 bit but your Matlab is 32 bit.

You can try the following to resolve the problem:
1.) Go to the installation directory of your importer.
2.) Switch into the folder "matlab"
3.) Delete the file named: "cmex_EmotivEpocEEG.mexw64"

Let us know if that worked for you.
Best,

Markus

@ Sanjiv S,
It looks like you are trying to run a 64bit application inside the 32bit subsystem inside a 64bit Operating System. Perhaps the install went awry at some point. I would start over with the installs and aim for running the Apps in 32bit because it’s most likely all you need. So, uninstall and then reinstall all the programs. Remember to let the installers install into their default locations, don’t change any paths during the install.

If you have a 64-bit Windows installed on your computer you have probably already noticed that there exists two folders for program files: the Program Files folder and the Program Files (x86) folder. The Program Files folder is intended for 64-bit programs and the Program Files (x86) folder is intended for 32-bit programs.

Let us know how that goes.
