Emotiv Store - Credit Card Payment Processing
Hi everyone,

We are experiencing some difficulties processing credit card payments at this time. Please generate an order as usual and a representative will contact you with a request for payment via PayPal or credit card.

We can continue to accept purchase orders and payments by wire transfer or cheques, as usual.

We will restore the store as soon as possible and apologize for any inconvenience this causes.

Thank you for your patience.

Regards
Emotiv Team
Hello, I realized the problem with the purchases with a credit card. Do you have a forecast of when the system will return to normal?
Is it back up yet? I want to get mine before stock runs out.
Hi Folks,

Placed an order yesterday but the system still does not seem to be accepting credit cards smile:cry: Any idea when somebody will actually contact me re payment?

Can't wait to get my hands on one of these so some idea of likely shipping times to Europe would also be nice smile:)

Thanks!
I am waiting to buy one Is it still down?
Still down unfortunately. If you place an order as usual and don't get past the payment screen we will contact you to arrange a payment method. We are trying to rebuild the automatic facility - sorry for the inconvenience!

Hi,

My emails to customer service bounce back so I'll try here.

Would be great if you could send a message or give an update here as to when you expect us to be able to make payment.

For info. I placed my order on 02 of Feb so surely this should have been fixed by now. After all I want to give you money and I assume whoever is financing you would expect me to be able to pay you without begging. But just in case it helps please, please, please get this fixed so I can send you some of my hard earned cash for the Research SDK I ordered. Please smile:)
Will do... For some reason I can;t fathom, Paypal has "swallowed" a pile of our cash and the account is locked - we can't access the funds already there. We don't seem to be able to do anything about it for now, although we are certainly motivated to get this fixed pronto. We are setting up alternative payment methods and these should be working quite soon. I know each of you is excited to get your headset and frustrated beyond belief. Imagine how we feel with hundreds of orders worth of cash locked away, and we can't collect on a huge number of new orders! We WILL fix it soon, promise!
Any news? Is it fixed? Can I order now?
No, it is still broken. This is unbelievable! All we can do is apologise! We can accept payments by wire transfer or cheque. If you have an Order Number and want to pay that way, please raise a Trouble Ticket with the order details and we will give you the bank details.
I've used Google Checkout before and it's worked smoothly. Maybe it could be a stand-in for paypal?
I am a web designer, and I have made a few large business websites that need to accept credit card payments. I've never experienced any problems. May I ask why this company is having so much trouble setting up an e-commerce section of the website? It really isn't that difficult.
Hi Buddy,
The problem is getting our account frozen by Payapal for various reasons - and this just keeps happening. Often it's just because there are more transactions than their model predicted, or less, and we get flagged as suspisious. Unfortunately it takes a long time and a lot of back and forth to get them to lift the account restriction. This particular time there was a freeze placed because of a third party, so we have wait for them to unfreeze as well.

We are trying to sort out on-line alternatives but nothing is easy to set up in a week when it comes to secure payments - every provider has to go through a reference check to make sure we are not going to dent their reputation.

We are able to accept payments by cheque or wire transfer but we have to do each one of these by hand.
If anybody wants to pay this way, please raise a Trouble Ticket and we will provide you with details.

Apologies - we are suffering too.

Best regards,
Geoff
Howdy all.
I've never been a fan of paypal. a straight forward credit card processing account (which accepts intl. cards) is these days a simple matter both financially and technologically. paypal provides a service which provides minimal benefits for an administrator and as we are all currently experiencing, potentially damaging resistence to smooth commerce. one layer of burocracy less would do us all a bit of good.
Could not agree more. Trying to set that up now - in a way that lets us offer more than one payment option so we don't fall over every time someone at one particular company gets a cold.
Even if I understand your problem, Paypal offers de safety of a large corporation that other small busness simply don't have. No offence but the fact you are having problem installing a safe payment method is not a very good vintage point from someone like me who want ot buy from you..Paypal look safer from my point of view. (it's a example put to the extreme, I do not mean you are unreliable, on the contrary).

Also, Paypal offers payment method that few offer - direct bank transfer. Im a pro-paypal guy smile:)

I would suggest setting up a sales and distribution point from your San Diego branch in the US. It is easy to contact a US bank with credit card processing and have them process all your credit card payments as long as you do some banking there. The bank credit card fees are less that PayPal charges and in my opinion creates the image of a more financially secure business with better consumer protection.

PayPal is now owned by eBay and is geared to servicing eBay not regular merchants. PayPal makes all these claims they don't honor.

1. They don't like credit card payments and charge everybody extra for credit card purchases over $500.

2. Can't find anybody at PayPal to talk to except at eBay and they all keep saying something different.

3. They don't like international sales. It is very hard to prosecute someone beyond your borders.

4. In order to get a refund one must provide a proof of delivery receipt for a return. The cost for proof of delivery for one counterfeit Dragon voice recognition CD to Australia is $76.00

This was not considered satisfactory proof for refunding my $91.00 AUD

Had I used a credit card instead of giving PayPal direct access to my bank account. I would just have protested the charge, refused to pay it and not be out my money.

I think you could still fulfill your orders with shipping from the Philippines as long as there is a San Diego address for customers to return merchandise they are dissatisfied with.

Good Luck

Hi everyone,

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused over the last few weeks with credit card processing.

We have been able to resolve the issues and expect to have the system up and running again to be able to process payments within the next 24 hours.

Thank you for your patience with us.

We look forward to working with you.

Regards,
Tan Le
Thanks Tom. Have you been listening to our calls?

For general information, we are not having trouble setting up Paypal. We have been using Paypal for almost a year. We are not always happy with their quirks but we have run a lot of cash through them and there are many conveniences - such as automatic calculation and payment of sales tax by US state. The down side is they arbitrarily shut down ("restrict") your payment account based on automated triggers and it can take weeks to get through to anybody to fix it - and you can't withdraw any funds already in there. You have to provide proof of identity from the last 4 generations of your family, in triplicate, witnessed by at least 2 non-coincident deities before they respond. We are working with them to try to fix this problem. Anyone know and Norse deities who are free for the weekend?
Well wish i would have seen this this thread before I sent a ticket lol. Glad it's been resovled. Can't wait smile:D
The news is that our deities are apparently acceptable and we should have Paypal back on air in 24 hours. Not sure whether that's dog hours, human hours or Galapagos Tortoise hours, but there should be no more than 24 of them smile:)
Do you have any other payment process them PayPal.

Reason PayPal has problems, went they started out they were great now there a pain in the butt. There are 3rd party payment application which I think are much better them PayPal and more secure, review Amazon payment application.
Yes, thanks for your patience folks. Paypal should be back online today (we have been advised). As I have explained repeatedly, we are also building up other online payment options so this does not happen again. We are a small company and it takes time to establish payment facilities with new vendors if we have only a short trading history.
